GovCIO is currently hiring an experienced Senior Solutions Architect to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Data Modernization initiative. This role will architect, design, and implement scalable, secure, and automated provisioning solutions that accelerate onboarding into the Summit Launchpad environment. The Senior Solutions Architect will lead the creation of standardized workspaces, data access configurations, and cloud-integrated services that enable rapid and compliant data analytics development. This position is fully remote, located in the United States. Responsibilities <ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Architect and pre-create workspaces equipped with the most commonly used tools to support accelerated customer onboarding.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Map new users to pre-created workspace configurations through the modernized intake process, improving efficiency and consistency across the environment.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Implement automated provisioning capabilities to grant core CDW access to authorized users, including those with appropriate NDS approvals.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Create and configure workspaces in PreProd (with live data) or Production environments, including service principals, workgroup personas, identity configurations, and access controls.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Design and set up linked services, mount points, and secure data connections within Databricks for access to the VHA Data Lake.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Create and maintain Databricks catalogs to support structured data access, governance, metadata management, and scalable analytics.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate provisioning workflows into automated intake and review processes.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Ensure architectural alignment with key Data Modernization deliverables, including automated data warehouse provisioning and white-glove post-provisioning support.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Partner with Databricks engineers, platform teams, and security engineers to ensure all workspace configurations meet VA security, compliance, and data governance standards.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Troubleshoot architectural issues related to access, connectivity, service principals, data pipelines, or workspace setups.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Contribute to the “single front door” experience by documenting architectural patterns and platform navigation guidance for new customers.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Identify blockers in the intake and provisioning processes and propose scalable architectural solutions to reduce friction and accelerate onboarding.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Support surge requests that require creating additional data access pathways, enhancing workspace architecture, or enabling data ingestion at scale.</li></ul> Qualifications Required Skills and Experience:<ul><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience in Information Technology or a related field. (or commensurate experience) </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Must have Computing Environment (CE) certification (i.e., AWS, Microsoft, Linux, etc.). </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Demonstrated experience and understanding of DOD Security, RMF, and/or NIST Policies. </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, VPN). </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Proficiency in automation tools and scripting (Python, Terraform, Ansible). </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and internal cross-functional teams. </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Experience with virtual and/or cloud-based servers and applications. </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Excellent technical documentation and reporting skills. </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Effective written and oral communication skills. </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Experience working in an Agile environment. </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Conducts assessments of current and draft documents for regulatory compliance. </li></ul>Preferred Skills and Experience:<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Experience within government, healthcare, or Veterans Affairs cloud or data environments.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Certified Azure Data Engineer, AWS Associate Solution Architect, Snowflake Sbowpro core, and TOGAF </li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Experience with SQL Server, Synapse</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Familiarity with NDS-governed data, CDW access workflows, and VA-specific onboarding processes.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Experience designing automated provisioning or self-service platforms.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Strong knowledge of Azure Databricks, VHA Data Lake architectures, and enterprise data governance.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, SharePoint, or similar workflow and intake tools.</li><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, Databricks Certified Architect, or relevant cloud/data credentials.</li></ul>Clearance Required <ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li style="color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust  </li></ul> Posted Salary Range USD $145,000.00 - USD $165,000.00 /Yr.
