JOB DESCRIPTION: Under direct supervision of the Building Official, the Mechanical/Plumbing Inspector will issue mechanical and plumbing permits and perform inspections and other related duties. Inspect buildings during construction to ensure compliance with all Uniform Mechanical and Plumbing codes, and other applicable requirements and specifications. Assist and advise general public and other City Officials in relation to International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical codes. Inform the Building Official of hazards or illegal conditions that my exist. Performs various office and other duties. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High Diploma or Equivalent (GED)Valid Driver's License (state of residence) that meets City's Insurability requirements. Minimum of five (5) years mechanical/plumbing foreman experience Current New Mexico Mechanical, Plumbing Trades Journeyman for three (3) years or have a State License in Plumbing/Mechanical. OTHER CONDITIONS: Within three (3) months of hire must be able to pass the State Mechanical/Plumbing CertificationWithin one (1) of hire must be able to pass the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Certifications. STARTING PAY: $38.98 P/H
