This senior-level position is ideal for an engineer with deep experience in high-voltage transmission systems, structure design, line routing, and power delivery engineering. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, project leadership skills, and familiarity with industry standards for transmission and distribution (T&D) companies. Key Responsibilities Transmission Line Engineering & Design <ul><li>Lead the design of AC /DC overhead/underground high-voltage (HV) transmission lines (69 kV–500 kV or higher). </li></ul><ul><li>Perform structural analysis and loading calculations for: </li></ul><ul><li>Direct Embed </li></ul><ul><li>H-frames </li></ul><ul><li>Lattice towers </li></ul><ul><li>Monopoles </li></ul><ul><li>Guyed structures </li></ul><ul><li>Conduct transmission line routing studies, environmental/ROW considerations, and feasibility analyses. </li></ul><ul><li>Develop plan & profile drawings, sag-tension calculations, foundation recommendations, and conductor selection. </li></ul><ul><li>Prepare technical specifications, design reports, material lists, and construction packages. </li></ul>Project Leadership & Technical Oversight <ul><li>Serve as technical lead or lead engineer on transmission line projects. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide quality control reviews for designs, drawings, and calculations. </li></ul><ul><li>Coordinate effectively with civil, structural, geotechnical, and environmental teams. </li></ul><ul><li>Support project managers with scope development, estimating, schedule development, and client communication. </li></ul>Industry Tools & Standards <ul><li>Apply applicable industry standards including: </li></ul><ul><li>NESC </li></ul><ul><li>ASCE </li></ul><ul><li>IEEE </li></ul><ul><li>ANSI </li></ul><ul><li>Utility-specific design criteria </li></ul><ul><li>Utilize industry-standard software such as: </li></ul><ul><li>PLS-CADD </li></ul><ul><li>PLS-Pole </li></ul><ul><li>PLS-Tower </li></ul><ul><li>SAG10 </li></ul><ul><li>AutoCAD or MicroStation </li></ul><ul><li>Maintain working knowledge of power delivery construction methods, materials, and field practices. </li></ul>Client & Stakeholder Engagement <ul><li>Work directly with T&D utilities, power companies, and EPC partners. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide technical guidance and support during construction, including reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs. </li></ul><ul><li>Participate in field visits, site assessments, and structure staking as needed. </li></ul>Required Qualifications <ul><li>Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline. </li></ul><ul><li>Professional Engineer (PE) license (required at hire). </li></ul><ul><li>Minimum 5 years of experience in the power industry, preferably with a transmission and distribution company or T&D engineering consultant. </li></ul><ul><li>Proven experience with high-voltage overhead transmission line engineering. </li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated proficiency with PLS-CADD and related design tools. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong knowledge of NESC and related industry codes. </li></ul><ul><li>Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. </li></ul>Preferred Qualifications <ul><li>Experience with both overhead transmission and substation interfaces. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience working directly with IOUs, public power agencies, or regional transmission organizations. </li></ul><ul><li>Familiarity with EPC delivery or multi-disciplinary design coordination. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience mentoring junior engineers and reviewing technical work. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience supporting cost estimating and proposal preparation. </li></ul>Soft Skills & Competencies <ul><li>Ability to work independently and lead technical tasks. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong client relationship-building skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Clear written and verbal communication. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong attention to detail, organization, and accountability. </li></ul><ul><li>Commitment to safety, quality, and innovation in engineering. </li></ul>Working at Hanson <ul><li>Employee-owned culture with strong collaboration and growth opportunities. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to collaborate with engineers across multiple offices. </li></ul><ul><li>Willingness to travel and support occasional field work. </li></ul><ul><li>Must possess a valid driver’s license. </li></ul>Salary Range: $117,000 - $150,000<h1>Benefits</h1>Our focus on people means we offer a generous benefits program to help you create a solid foundation for health and security throughout your career, including:<ul><li><h2>Competitive compensation</h2></li><li><h2>Performance bonuses</h2></li><li><h2>401(k) with matching contribution</h2></li><li><h2>Employee Stock Ownership Plan</h2></li><li><h2>Comprehensive health & well-being plans</h2></li><li><h2>Financial wellness plans</h2></li><li><h2>Work-life balance programs</h2></li></ul>Want to know more?
