Coding Abstractor, Full Time

<p>Description</p><p><br></p><p>The Coding Abstractor is responsible for adding the correct referral source, discharge disposition, and admitting/attending MDs. Has full access to patient health information.</p><p>Coding Abstractor will work on-site.  If satisfactory quality and productivity standards are met, an option for remote work is possible. </p><p><br></p><p>Shift: M-F, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM</p><p>Requirements</p><ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent required.</li><li>Current AHIMA or AAPC credential (RHIA / RHIT / CCS / CCA / CPC / CPC-H) preferred.</li><li>Excellent communication, computer and typing skills required.</li><li>Ability to tolerate viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time. </li><li>Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and various medical specialties.</li><li>Ability to read handwritten documentation, detail oriented, and able to work with increasing independence.</li><li>Ability to professionally cope with stressful situations.</li><li>Able to identify problematic situations / issues and work with management to resolve or improve them.</li></ul><p>Essential Physical Requirements: </p><ul><li>Must pass a basic FIT test to include bending, stooping, standing and sitting for extended periods of time.</li><li>Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.</li><li>Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.</li><li>Requires normal vision/hearing range (+/- assistive devices such as glasses or hearing aids) and absence of color-blindness.</li></ul>
